HE'S been around for a while, but Herbie Hancock hasn't lost his cool.

As one of the most influential names in jazz music, Hancock's style has never dated and he is responsible for many of the samples heard in today's hip hop and dance tracks.

British hip hop act US3 sampled one of Hancock's tracks Cantaloupe Island for their hit track Cantaloop.

His latest album Future 2 Future delivers once again.

It features an almost extravagant list of guest performers.

Vocalists include soul sister Chaka Khan and mixers include hip hop pioneer Rob Swift.

Hancock proves his staying power on the album by presenting his take on today's progressive music from dance floor culture.

With his traditional elements of jazz spiced up with modern beats and rhythms, the album delivers complete ear candy for fans of hip hop, jazz and drum and bass.

Starting off with flecks of Middle Eastern flavours, the album moves between fusions of jazz and hip hop.

Both up-tempo and laid back, this album provides enough variation throughout its run to satisfy dance floor regulars as well as the chill out types.

- RATING: 3.5 stars.
