Country Star to Make Tracks as Album Looms

Who: Troy Cassar-Daley
Where: Singleton Bowling Club
When: Friday February 22, 2002

ON the eve of the release of a new album, country crooner Troy Cassar-Daley will perform a few shows around the Hunter.

Cassar-Daley has been busy putting the finishing touches to his highly anticipated fourth album, which is due for release in mid April.

The album is said to hold a few surprises since the singer forged song-writing partnerships with Paul Kelly and Ross Wilson. The tour will see Cassar-Daley perform at Singleton Bowling Club on Friday and at Ettalong Beach Memorial Club on Saturday with Lyn Bowtell. He will also be joined by rising country star Sara Storer on the tour.

Born in Sydney and raised in Grafton, Cassar-Daley has been a fan of country music for much of his life.

He began playing guitar at the age of 11.

His first band Little Eagle was touring the North Coast by the time he was 16, supporting Ian Moss, America and Mental As Anything. His life as a country star skyrocketed in 1989 when he was a Star Maker finalist.

He has won a number of awards including Male Vocalist of the Year and he picked up three Golden Guitar Awards at the 1998 CMAA Awards.
