City in for a Treat as Top Brass Visits

Who: James Morrison, Waratah Brass
Where: Newcastle Panthers
When: Saturday August 10, 2002

TAKING the term 'multi-instrumentalist' to new heights, JAMES MORRISON will bring his collection of instruments to Newcastle this weekend.

Undoubtably one of Australia's most talented musicians, Morrison has developed a virtuoso style in several brass instruments.

Best known for his work on the trumpet, Morrison can also work his magic on the trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones and piano.

Since Morrison picked up his first instrument at age seven, he has barely stopped to take a breath. As well as taking his talents around the country, he has performed internationally with a host of major stars.

He has teamed with legends such as DIZZY GILLESPIE, CAB CALLOWAY, WOODY SHAW, RED RODNEY, GEORGE BENSON, RAY CHARLES, B.B. KING, RAY BROWN and WYNTON MARSALIS just to name a few.

Many of his audiences have been just as distinguished.

He has performed for QUEEN ELIZABETH II on two occasions and for US presidents GEORGE BUSH and BILL CLINTON at Parliament House.

On Saturday night, Novocastrian fans will be next in line for a performance from the musical great.

Morrison will join local band WARATAH BRASS for a performance at CLUBNOVA PANTHERS NEWCASTLE from 8pm.

Doors open at 7.15pm and entry is $35 or $26 for a concession.

Tickets are available from the club.
