Jazz Star to Bring Tunes to Dungeon

FOLLOWING a successful show at The Dungeon last month, the venue will welcome Sydney jazz vocalist Nicky Crayson to the stage tomorrow night.

Nicky will perform from 7.30pm and be accompanied by Jonathon Brown on bass, Daryl Aberhart on piano and Nick Cecire on drums.

A shining vocalist with years of experience, Crayson began performing professionally at age 14.

She began her career working in clubs and restaurants and toured with Galapogos Duck for three years.

She appeared on their album Endangered Species at age 17 and made her film debut in Rebel that year while also featuring on the soundtrack.

Nicky has performed at some of the country's top venues and at numerous jazz festivals such as Sydney's Midsummer Jazz in the Park, Canberra's Australian Jazz Festival, Rothbury Festival, Perth Festival and Melbourne's Jazz & Blues Festival. Nicky recently completed a tour with James Morrison's Funk Band and was the voice behind the Channel 7 Olympic Theme.

While not on tour, Nicky teaches vocal jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium and Macquarie University.

She is now preparing to release her new album Daydream which features The Matt McMahon Trio.
