WITH a reputation for being quite raunchy, Machine Gun Fellatio is sure to spice up the stage at Newcastle University tomorrow night.
In March the group was faced with the prospect of being banned from their own shows when they had to cancel performances at Victorian universities.
The plug was pulled on the shows after they were alleged to be offensive and sexist by groups within the institutions.
The uproar was caused due to a set of blow-up stage props that depicted covers of 70s gay novels which belonged to Machine Gun Fellatio's vocalist KK Juggy (Christa Hughes).
'When we play the so-called blue collar towns, such as Wollongong and Newcastle, everyone loves our show,' Pinky Beecroft says.
'While the places that are meant to be the most educated just can't deal with it.'
The funky seven-piece from Sydney was recently seen on the ABC series Love Is a Four Letter Word where they performed Not Afraid of Romance, Black Lamb and Unsent Letter. The band appeared in two episodes of the program and is responsible for the show's opening theme music.
Izadora and Head Poppin' Fattness are also on the bill tomorrow night and tickets are $8 for students and $12 for guests.
