THE new After Dark Nitespot will rock the suburbs when it officially opens its doors on Friday night.
AD's is the new-look nightclub inside Mayfield Hotel and offers new features including a laser-light show, DJ dance club and a venue for live bands.
Promoter Dean Dee said the club will host three bands each week including local groups and national artists.
There to help celebrate on Friday night will be local all-girl group Skreem, Mayfield's Riff'd and Adelaide artist Darren Conway. Conway is on tour and will perform at The Castle on Thursday, AD's on Friday and the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday.
The solo artist will perform tracks from his self-produced 1999 release Pawn when he kicks off his tour in Newcastle.
Conway was born in Newcastle before moving on to Darwin where he began his musical career in a large number of bands.
Conway said he can't wait to come home and perform in front of a home crowd.
'Obviously I'm a Newcastle boy and I'm really looking forward to coming home,' Conway said.
Guitarist Dean Dee and Conway's brother Brad will join Conway on the road as the tour continues through to Sydney and Wollongong.
