Looking forward to it . . . LAST year he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award and this year the Australian country music legend has picked up the award for Best Country Album Looking Forward, Looking Back. Slim Dusty may have been named a living national treasure in 1998 but through all the praise he receives, he continues to write and produce some of the finest country music Australia has ever produced.

At 74 years of age, Dusty has released album number 100 and is working on his 101st album with no intention of stopping.

Still continuing to tour the country, Dusty will perform an intimate show at Civic Theatre on Saturday night.

Dusty, who is as famous for tracks like A Pub With No Beer and Duncan as he is for his Aussie Akubra, loves the fact he is Australian and loves to give the crowd a sense of real Australian pride.

'I have to be fair dinkum with my audience,' Dusty said.

'I can't see any other way of doing it, you have to believe in what you are singing about.'

Not only has Dusty given the country an endless list of some of memorable tracks, he has also reared another one of Australia's country music superstars, Anne Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick will join her father on the stage on Saturday night and tickets to the show are available from Ticketek.
