THE Bolshoi Ballet company is regarded as the greatest ballet company in the world.
Novocastrians will be lucky enough to witness the greatest classical ballet event this year when The Stars of the Bolshoi perform at Civic Theatre on November 17.
The ballet spectacular will feature elite dancers performing some of the world's greatest ballets including classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Festival Flowers From Jensano. Starring in the ballet is the Bolshoi Ballet's prima ballerina Galina Stepanenko. Born in Moscow, she graduated from the Moscow Ballet School in 1984 and has developed a technique that brings new and complicated elements to dance.
The company consists of more than 300 professional dancers and the Australian tour will feature dancers from the St Petersberg Ballet, The Bolshoi Ballet and The Russian Classical Ballet Companies. Tickets to the show at Civic Theatre are available from Ticketek or by calling 4929-1977.
