CESSNOCK country-rock songstress Kate Ballantyne with be in acoustic mode on Sunday at Club Phoenix. Starting at 6.30pm, Ballantyne will be joined by talented pianist Stuart Hamilton. The special show is part of Club Phoenix's regular Sunday country music showcase which has drawn some of Australia's most popular acts, including Tamworth beauty Felicity Urquart. Ballantyne will showcase some of her most popular original material from all of her four albums: Tomorrow's Girl, Too Hot To Handle, Flowers For Love and Happy Hours. She will also delve into some of her favourite and most requested cover tunes which she has tinkered with to give them her own distinctive style.
Highly decorated, Ballantyne was named Newcastle female vocalist of the year 1991, was an Australian Songwriters Association Award winner in 1995, won the 1998 Tamworth Star Maker Award, was a Golden Guitar finalist in new talent category in 1999 and was a finalist in Australian Independent Country Music Award for best heritage song category in 2000.
Also appearing will be the Snape Brothers who will play tracks from their new album, Nightworker as well as some covers.
