Course Ends on High Note

What: Starlight Foundation Gig
Where: SJ's on Beaumont
When: Sunday June 17, 2001

AFTER months of careful preparation and rehearsals, students from the Music Business Certificate 2 course at Tighes Hill TAFE are ready to rock out at SJ's Hotel this Sunday.

The class has organised the show and will be graded on preparation for the show, which is creatively titled Sinister Sarcasm of the Inner Eardrum concert.

Student Cathryn Leyborn said the class had trouble choosing a name for the show and came up with the interesting title after writing out a number of potential names.

'We couldn't figure out a name for the show, so we drew the names out of a hat,' Cathryn said.

'The title of the show is named after the appreciation of eardrums and we weren't sure about it at first, but now it has grown on us.'

Performing at the concert are some of Newcastle's most talented bands including Equinibrium, Operation Lager, Pilgrum, Seventh Eve, Neglected Faith, Shade and Almida. Solo performances will be delivered by Michelle Dayton, Viper, Ann Strickland and Alyssa. Each band has at least one member enrolled as a student in the TAFE music course, which provides an insight into the promotion, organisation and marketing of a band.

The show will begin at 4pm and continue until 11pm and the entry fee is a gold coin donation.

All money raised will go to the Starlight foundation.
