Hottentots Hot to Trot

Who: The Hottentots
Where: Northern Star Hotel
When: Saturday February 3, 2001

Contemporary folk and songwriting duo PARISSA BOUAS and CARL CLEVES will perform at the Northern Star Hotel on Saturday, February 3.

The Byron Bay duo, known as THE HOTTENTOTS, will arrive in Newcastle during an East Coast tour to promote their third CD, GRACEFUL, before heading off for a European summer tour.

The Hottentots are a regular at major folk festivals in Australia, Europe and South America.

Arts commentator PHILIP ADAMS said 'Parissa has a voice that would aggravate angels!' during a performance on ABC LATE NIGHT LIVE. In Brazil, critics named her Patativa after a bird renowned for its singing.

Carl has accumulated 'a bottomless bag of adventures, stories and rhythms, languages and guitar styles during his nomadic life, which has led him to perform in almost every continent'.

TE has a copy of the last CD by HOTTENTOT PARTY - the duo in full band mode - called THE VOICE OF YOUR HEART. To go in the draw mail an envelope, with your name, address and telephone number on the back, to HOTTENTOT GIVEAWAY, PO Box 615, Newcastle, 2300.
