Personality-Charged Performers

Who: JJ Sam
Where: QWB - Queens Wharf Brewery
When: Thursday January 11, 2001

FRONTMAN JASON WALSH first met members of his band JJ SAM when the group was the backing band at Kings Comedy Restaurant.

Walsh had performed as an actor in the comedy theatre for four years when the members took over as the house band.

Theatre work has paid off for the group, which delivers a 'personality-charged' set where Walsh gets the audience involved.

Keyboard player JOE KELLY says the group's strength is its versatility.

Tomorrow night at The Brewery, JJ Sam will perform a 'jazz set' for JAZZWORKS at the venue.

But on Wednesday, January 24, the group will perform 'rock' for ROCKING RETRO at The Brewery.

With ADAM MORRIS on drums, MARK TRANTER on guitar and STEVEN WOOSTER on bass, the group performs 'disco and retro rock'n'roll covers' through to 'traditional and funkier acid jazz'.

Catch JJ Sam this Friday night at Cessnock Ex Services Club, Saturday night at Kurri Workers Club, and next Wednesday, January 17, at the Star Hotel. TE
