THEY have worn shorts on stage because they are comfortable, released eight albums and are regarded as one of the hardest working bands of the 1980s.
Now The Celibate Rifles are preparing to rock The Cambridge on Saturday with musical warriors Chinchen in tow.
Celibate Rifle have been celebrated as one of the last pub/surf rock bands still circulating in Australian venues.
The gig will be Chinchen's last in Newcastle for 2001 and they plan to go out with a big one. The Celibate Rifleswere formed in 1978 by a group of suburban Sydney school friends.
More than 20 years later the guys are still turning musical heads with an appeal and sound that spans decades.
From releasing their first album Sideroxylon to their compilation CD Wonderful Life in 1997 the band has just kept on going.
The guys have also toured extensively here and overseas.
Albums such as A mid-stream of consciousness released last year brought the guys radio air-play across Australia.
