FUNKING it up all over Newcastle is Hey Baby. The five-piece is quickly becoming one of the hottest cover bands in the Hunter with its irresistible repertoire of dance, r'n'b and retro rock tunes.
Featuring the talented Kim Zechel and Alissa Hunt on lead vocals, Hey Baby perform a wide range of covers.
Artists covered by the group include Anastacia, Janet Jackson, Destiny's Child, Vanessa Amorosi, Kylie Minogue and En Vogue. Kim Zechel is remembered for her mesmerising performances with popular local act Fruitcake. The soulful sounds of Alissa Hunt were picked up when she was discovered singing karaoke at a bar.
The girls are backed up with some funky beats and a rhythm section from Lyle Goodman, Peter Gilchrist and Peter Simon. Drummer Lyle is an ex-member of Flat Earth Society and bass player Peter formerly played in Kactus and Eclipse. Originally from New Zealand, Simon is an experienced session musician and has worked with various bands throughout Auckland.
