Who: The Good
Where: Town Hall Hotel
When: Saturday May 27, 2000

WARATAH band THE GOOD has produced a CD guaranteed to appeal to almost everybody.

Launching the self-titled, five-track debut CD this Saturday night at Town Hall Hotel, lead singer, guitarist and keyboard player GARETH HUDSON (second from left) said the band had already received air play from NEW-FM for the quirky retro-style opening track GET UP. 1233 ABC NEWCASTLE has also indicated support for another track.

'We're happy with it,' Hudson said. 'We just want to sell enough so that we can record another one.'

Hudson, who wrote all but one of the tracks, said the biggest influence on his songwriting was the music of THE BEATLES and STEVIE WONDER. The Good will also perform tonight at the Duck's Nuts Hotel and Friday night at The Blackbutt. Other members of The Good are (from left) HEATHER BARNES, DEAN GEARING and REUBEN ANDREW. POPE STARS: THOSE psychedelic latin rock funksters FLOYD VINCENT & THE CHILDBRIDES will be playing new material from their upcoming album, as well as some old favourites, this Saturday night at the Northern Star Hotel. Fresh from a tour of the north coast and Queensland, the band is busy recording and has knocked back offers to tour during summer in Europe to complete their album. Meanwhile manager DANNY DI GIOVANNI has been asked by their European production company to write a letter of recommendation to the committee organising a major event to be attended by the Pope!

RETRO SOUNDS: FEEL like taking a walk down memory lane? Then make a note in your diary to get a gang together for THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN on Sunday, June 11, at the Newcastle Workers Club, featuring THE RADIATORS, SPY VS SPY, DV8, THE COCKROACHES, THE CHOIRBOYS, MATT FINISH, SWANEE, THE ZARSOFF BROS and AVION.
