FANS should almost be able to smell the new MIDNIGHT OIL CD THE REAL THING .

Up for release in July, the CD features three new songs and a compilation of songs from the acoustic live and interactive shows at the Metro in Sydney in 1994.

To whet your appetite for their latest brilliant instalment, the OILS are touring Australia's east coast this August.

Tickets are on sale now for their show at the Newcastle Workers Club on Sunday August 13.

Their new album promises the same passion, meaningful lyrics and candid, grass roots rock and roll that defines the group.

The East Timor benefit CD LIBERDADE - VIVA EAST TIMOR , which is already out, contains a new OILS song SAY YOUR PRAYERS .

The song will also be on their new album, reminding Australia of the horrors of East Timor with lyrics such as: 'I got the cure for compassion fatigue; Spend a week with the Timorese; Running scared from the military; I come to you with a plaintive plea.'

Fans will immediately recognise all-time classics such as TRUGANINI and BLUE SKY MINING which are also on the album.

Tickets are on sale from the Newcastle Workers Club or by phonecharge (02) 4929-7555.
