HIP and soul deejays DJ DEEKAY and DJ DEE STYLE, aka DENNIS KIMANI (left) and DENNIS ST JOHN, will play their smooth grooves at the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday night for the MIDNITE SOUL dance party.

Deekay, who also deejays at The Castle every Friday night, said one lucky MC would have the chance to win $50 on the night in a freestyle rapping competition.

Both deejays play music along the lines of LAURYN HILL, 112, NEXT, 2-PAC, MACE and NOTORIOUS BIG.

The last party the pair hosted was FLAVA at the same hotel in June. Entry is $4, beginning at 10.30pm and finishing late.

FUNKY POP:

A new all-female band KAIRUS,featuring members from several popular Hunter groups, will make its debut on Friday night at The Cambridge Hotel.

MERINDA, the former lead singer of OSMIUM GRID, fronts this 'funky pop group with a rocky edge'.

TWIN PSYCHE guitarist ANNE, POWDERKEG drummer STEPHANIE and bass player MEEGHAN will take to the stage at 9.30pm, after DANCE OF LIFE drummers at 9pm.

DJ MATH MATICS, LIQUAFACTION and CH'I will follow Kairus.
