Swedish Punk Outfit Flaunts its Killer Spirit

Who: 59 Times the Pain, Chen Lab
Where: The Palais
When: Saturday August 12, 2000

SWEDISH punks 59 TIMES THE PAIN have a positive approach to life and their own future, something spelt out in bold on their latest effort END OF THE MILLENNIUM.

The 'two fingers in the air record' captures the band's ongoing killer spirit, an appetite for life and a blatant punk rock attitude.

Catch them at the University of Newcastle tomorrow night with CHEN LAB.

TE has five copies of END OF THE MILLENNIUM to give away. To go in the draw, mail an envelope, with your name, address and telephone number on the back, to 59 TIMES THE PAIN GIVEAWAY, PO Box 615, Newcastle, 2300.

NEWIE MUSIC: AFTER KILLING HEIDI at The Palais this Saturday night, don't forget to check out the OVERDRIVE Newcastle band showcase at The Cambridge, featuring six original bands from 9pm until 3am. One of those groups is MINX, featuring SAM AULTON on vocals, SALLY WILSON on bass, PAULA MAC on guitar, BRAD LAING on drums and THERESA MCGOWAN on keyboards and backing vocals. Like CUTAWAY, ELEVEN 11, EQUINIBRIUM, VALHALLA and JARR'D, Minx usually plays covers, but on Saturday night they'll be showing Newcastle music lovers, and invited music industry types, their own tunes

FIST GRIST: INDUSTRIAL hardcore record label BLOODY FIST, based in Newcastle, was featured last month in the widely-read AUSTRALIAN PERSONAL COMPUTER magazine, which included a CD featuring about 10 Bloody Fist MP3s including XYLOCAINE, DE-KODER, SYNDICATE, OVERCAST, MORBUS, FRAUGHMAN, MEMETIC, AFTERMATH, SUBSONIC and NASENBLUTEN. On Saturday night the Bloody Fist crew will hold a live techno night called DAILY DIRT, at the Hunter On Hunter hotel, with DJs DATA, SUBSONIC, MARK N, NATAS, PERIMETER and FRAUGHMEN.
