Anuj a Heady Mix of East and West

Who: Anuj, Bardot
Where: Newcastle Panthers
Author: Anne-Marie Wilcock
When: Saturday August 26, 2000

THE saying 'the best of both worlds' was made for ANUJ .

The influence of daily shots of eastern music, rhythm and dance from a young age make a heady mix when thrown together with the Western world's pop.

That mix has attracted the attention of big-name bands, and he has been confirmed for the tour to support BARDOT in August, and supported two DESTINY'S CHILD shows in July.

While many will struggle with his name (pronounced An-ooch), it should will certainly not be such a challenge to enjoy his music.

His first Australian single Can You Stand The Heat is a collaboration between ANUJ and Tony Cvetkovski.

The single debuted at number 31 in the NSW singles chart in its week of release and is now number 60 in the National Singles Chart.

ANUJ originally came to Australia following his father's footsteps in dance, but before long his vocal talents were also discovered.

He has been performing as a singer since his early teens, including a stint with R&B duo POPBOYS .

Supporting the likes of CBD and HUMAN NATURE during this time allowed ANUJ to perfect his craft.

The 23-year-old is now ready to attack the charts of Australia with a swag of up tempo songs in catchy modern pop and R&B styles.

See this up-and-coming talent with BARDOT at the Newcastle Workers Club on Saturday August 26.

TE has five ANUJ CDs to give away.
