IN the early 1990s there was a band called CARTER THE UNSTOPPABLE SEX MACHINE which had 10 Top 20 singles and four Top 10 albums in the United Kingdom.
One of the albums went to number one in the UK and in Australia the band was enormously popular, selling out massive club shows all over the country.
Cut to 1999 and FRUITBAT, founding member of Carter USM, has formed a new band ABDOUJAPAROV whose East Coast of Australia tour is highly successful thanks to TRIPLE J support of his single PUNK CONFETTI. Fruitbat's twin guitar pop and infectious punk melodies earn loads of positive reviews. His cheesy fun lyrics too have critics in a spin.
This time around Abdoujaparov is extending the tour to include Newcastle for the first time, where you can find the band today at the University of Newcastle and tonight at SJ's Hotel.
