URBAN folk singer-songwriters TIDDAS will perform next Sunday, April 11, at The Cambridge Hotel, with RITA MILLS and her band THE DESCENDANTS. Tiddas will be in Newcastle to promote its latest CD LETHAL BY THE KILO which features the song WAKA NINI YANA played solo by LOU BENNETT when she supported JEWEL at the Civic earlier this month.
Mills will be promoting her own CD BLUE MOUNTAIN. Both discs will be for sale on the night.
The Descendants are Aboriginal performers from the Torres to the Bass Strait including former YOTHU YINDI drummer BEN HAKALITZ, and renowned Torres Strait Islander dancers SAM SAVAGE and LINTON SCHREIBER. Other members of 10-piece Descendants bands are vocalists MERINDI, DELENE and NAURITA BRISCOE, lead guitarist RITCHIE ODO, bass player PETER KAILOP, keyboard player JULIAN YOUNG and Rita Mills' grand-daughter LARISSA BANI.
