Who: Miles From Nowhere
Where: Club Phoenix
When: Monday April 5, 1999

ACOUSTIC four-piece group MILES FROM NOWHERE , playing this Monday, April 5, at Club Phoenix, has received accolades for its four-part male harmonies.

The group's 1997 debut CD TWO WITH YOU won the group an award for Best New Talent at the Queensland Recording Association Awards that year.

Brothers MICK and DAN CARTER, cousin BEN MCCARTHY and old friend CHRIS DILLON form the group.

The lineup consists of a simple snare drum and cymbal, acoustic bass and two acoustic guitars, laying down a great folky feel which has been compared with the VIOLENT FEMMES and EXTREME. Live shows feature a range of originals and covers by DAVID BOWIE, AMERICA and PAUL SIMON. But the band insists its music defies categorisation.

Last year the group released an EP with the live favourite with humorous lyrics BRAIN IN HIS PANTS and hopes to record a full-length album next year. TE
