Concert offers a classic evening

TONIGHT'S performance by the SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA at the Newcastle Civic Theatre will feature BEETHOVEN'S No.2 and No.5 SYMPHONIES as well as an OBOE CONCERTO by DIANA DOHERTY. Doherty, an Australian YOUNG CONCERT ARTIST performer, was awarded the first EUROPEAN YOUNG CONCERT ARTIST international award in Leipzig.

She also is a recipient of the MORTIMER LEVITT CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARD FOR WOMEN. This evening's show is the first Newcastle performance by the SYDNEY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA in four years. It will be conducted by EDO DE WAART. Tickets are available from the Civic. Ph: 4929-1977.
