FIELDS has released its debut self-titled CD on the independent TROY HORSE label, and is picking up airplay on the national TRIPLE M radio station. Playing on Friday night at The Cambridge Hotel, and Saturday at the STARDUST gig at Cessnock Showgrounds, the band has played more than 60 shows around the country since February, on the strength of AMORIST and MOON, which shimmer with atmospheric guitar sounds, that rock and rumble in all the right places. The band's lead singer ROD COCKLE croons with a voice that ranges all the way up to falsetto - and yes, there have been JEFF BUCKLEY comparisons - but the band prefers to be known as an innovators rather than an imitators. TE has given the CD a good spin and the verdict is that FIELDS is definitely BUCKLEY -esque. But there's a good deal going on in the background musically with FIELDS to warrant the innovators tag, and a much closer look.
