WITH a honking 1960s-style organ riff, clattering drums and a few judicious vocal grabs, Sydney DJ-mixer FATT DEX has created a song JUS' FUNKIN which is guaranteed to induce serious dancefloor mayhem.
Appearing this Friday night at the Northern Star Hotel Dex cites FATBOY SLIM and THE PROPELLERHEADS, as his 'most obvious touchstones'.
Dex cuts, loops and samples 1960s and 1970s funk, soul and r&b into his act. JUS' FUNKIN is out in Australia through VIRGIN RECORDS. Joining Dex on stage will be Hunter acts, DJ QUADROPHONIC and DJ mama. THE following night VERSA-STYLZ 3, an all-ages hip hop and r&b night, will be held at the Cambridge Hotel, featuring DJ BONES, MASS MC, MIND CHATTER, TUNZONE, DJ PATSAN, MAJIK, RELAX, C-DOGG, MR FONTANE, TERMINAL ILLNESS, DJ CASE and C-STYLZ from 7pm.
A two-hour afternoon in-store appearance will also held at PDM RECORDS in the Hunter St Mall on Saturday at 12.30pm.
MASS MC has a new CD out called CHEM-A-KILS which is produced by CASE. TE has two copies to give away.
