ELOPE will play their last gig at The Cambridge Hotel this Friday before taking a sojourn while drummer CHRIS WOOD heads overseas.
Vocalist DANIEL HILL said the band was headlining a show with Sydney-band MOPE and STRENGTH TO STRENGTH. 'After this show we'll be taking a break for a while, we'll be working on new songs and then we will re-attack it later in the year,' Hill said.
'This will be the last chance punters have to see us for a while.'
Elope is PHIL MARINO on bass JASON TAMPACKE on vocals, violin and percussion, AMILLE WARNER on keyboards ANDREW MCGUIRK on guitar, DANIEL HILL on vocals and percussion and CHRIS WOOD on drums.
Formed 18 months ago as a 'jam band' from the remnants of bands including WYNDHAM EARLE, DOSDUMULAR, WAS BLEIBT, Elope has since gained a following of supporters with its original material.
'We play a fusion of funk, rock, ethnic-type grooves, with some rap elements in it as well,' Hill said.
'We all come from fairly diverse musical and ethnic backgrounds and I think that's reflected in the music.'
