FORMER THINGS OF STONE & WOOD frontman and principle songwriter GREG ARNOLD (pictured) will squeak into Newcastle tonight aboard his new vehicle TRICYCLE. The Melbourne-based 1993 APRA songwriter of the year has a new 14-song album SUPER out through FESTIVAL RECORDS' fiido distribution - and it has a decidedly electric feel and sound.
Tonight's show at the Northern Star Hotel in Beaumont St, Hamilton, will showcase the new material.
'It was TEENAGE FANCLUB's GRAND PRIX, MATTHEW SWEET's GIRLFRIEND and JASON FAULKNER's AUTHOR UNKNOWN that made me realise guitars and singer songwriters needn't be so suspicious of one another,' Arnold said. Tricycle's live line-up features drummer IAN KITNEY, guitarist RICHARD GILLARD, double bassist ANITA HUSTAS, with Arnold on guitar and lead vocals.
His new material is a wash of moody guitars, HAMMOND organs, orchestral double bass and 'RINGO/KEITH MOON -esque' drumming. TE
