Powderfinger a Hit

Who: Powderfinger
Where: Newcastle Panthers
When: Wednesday December 2, 1998

POWDERFINGER will hit the road in November and December to promote its latest CD THE INTERNATIONALIST. The band arrives at the Newcastle Workers Club on Wednesday, December 2, with the United Kingdom's own SWERVEDRIVER and NOT FROM THERE from Brisbane.

Tickets to the show went on sale on Monday at the club and judging by the band's last performance at the box office punters would be wise to get in early.

If you haven't heard the band's latest album, or you weren't one of the 190,000 Australians who parted with the readies for the ARIA-winning DOUBLE ALLERGIC, then TRIPLE J has a special treat for you this week to help you get up to speed.

The Powderfinger set at this Sunday's 25th Anniversary Concert at the Sydney Opera House will be broadcast live to air on RICHARD KINGSMILL'S 1998 program after 2pm on Sunday.

Hosted by THE SANDMAN and JEN OLDERSHAW the concert will feature performances by THE CRUEL SEA, EVEN and MARCY'S PLAYGROUND, for future LIVE AT THE WIRELESS SPECIALS. All 2000 tickets to the concert have been given away to listeners. Don't miss your opportunity to catch the band live in Newcastle. TE
