DOUBLE bassist JACK THORNCRAFT will hit the Northern Star Hotel on Wednesday, December 16, for the first time as a band leader.
Thorncraft, who made a name for himself in the 1960s and 1970s in Sydney, has worked with some of Australia's most prominent jazz musoes including GALAPAGOS DUCK, JAMES MORRISON and DON BURROWS. Since the mid-1980s Thorncraft has lived in Northern NSW, working in the Byron Bay area, the Gold Coast and Brisbane, where he has recorded three CDs with THE JIM KELLY QUARTET. Kelly will join Thorncraft on stage next week.
Other members of Thorncraft's band include pianist JULIAN LEE, with COL NOLAN on hammond organ, WARWICK ALDER on trumpet and flugelhorn, DAVE SANDERS on drums and Jack's son JASON THORNCRAFT on bass guitar. TE
