WEST African musician EPIZO BANGOURA & THE AFRICAN EXPRESS will set the Northern Star Hotel jumping this Saturday night with their 'percussion-fuelled Afro-Latin, jazzed-up grooves'.
Epizo was born in Guinea, West Africa, into a family of 'griots'. A griot is a historian who tells stories of his people through music, song or dance.
After travelling to Paris in 1984 then New York, Epizo taught dance and percussion, before becoming involved with jazz musicians.
AFRICAN EXPRESS features eight musicians on guitar, bass, saxophone, piano, balaphone, percussion and vocals.
