Shadlow Shines with Slim Polish

Who: Mitchell Shadlow
Where: Club Phoenix
When: Sunday December 20, 1998

SINGLETON country performer MITCHELL SHADLOW will perform at Club Phoenix for MONTH OF SUNDAYS this week with vocalist FELICITY URQUART. Shadlow, who is signed to the ABC COUNTRY label, spent a year on the road in 1994 as the guitarist for SLIM DUSTY. His debut album, ONE OF THESE DAYS, was given the best possible start by Dusty, who acted as MC at the launch held at The Basement in Sydney last year.

'I grew up listening to Slim and to STAN COSTER,' Shadlow told the SUN-HERALD last year.

'They were my idols and probably my biggest influences, and I was lucky enough to tour with both of them at a very early stage of my career, which was invaluable and also a great honour.'

One of the earliest highlights of his career was touring Australia with the late Coster - a tour that cemented his love of country music.'

Shadlow recorded his first single, BIG DECISION, in January 1994, making his own big decision that he was ready for the studio and preferred not to take the TOYOTA STAR MAKER route to success.

The song was one of three he recorded in that session and it came to the attention of Dusty's record producer, ROD COE. 'At the time, Slim was looking for a new guitar player and he needed someone who could also sing,' he said.

'He ended up signing me to tour for the rest of the year.'

Shadlow performed every State of Australia, including Tasmania, as well as playing in New Zealand.

'Slim actually gave me my own spot in the show so I was more than just the guitarist,' Shadlow said.

'It was a great opportunity and I had a wonderful time.'

ONE OF THESE DAYS contains beautiful, evocative ballads and catchy country rock tracks.

He has also recorded a STEVE EARLE cover RAINS CAME DOWN TE
