The High Road Down Under

Who: Con Shawnery, Maureen Ekiner
Where: Belmont 16ft Sailing Club
When: Wednesday March 15, 2006

SINCE his arrival in Australia, Con Shawnery has established himself as a respected and talented cabaret performer.

Originally from Scotland, Shawnery was classically trained on the trumpet and made his start playing in brass bands.

He decided to diversify and began performing as a vocalist with various show bands in Scotland.

At age 16, Shawnery began singing and playing with his band The Crescendos. Utilising his trumpet, guitar and vocal talents to entertain a wide range of audiences, his warm personality and good humour has boosted his popularity.

He covers songs by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Dixieland, Al Jolson, Glen Miller and a few Scottish songs for good measure.

Shawnery will perform at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club on Wednesday, March 15 alongside vocalist Maureen Ekiner. Entry is free.
