NEWCASTLE Live Sites' popular event Latino Nights will return for a second season that promises to be bigger and bolder.
Four weekly events will be held in Wheeler Place on Friday evenings featuring acts including Saraguey, the Club Havana Band and 14-piece big band Mucho Mambo .
Up to 1000 revellers packed out the event last year with picnic blankets and Latin dancing.
The good news for budding movers and shakers is that Latino dance classes will again be staged.
Saraguey will be the first band to perform at Latino Nights and will open the event with a mix of Latino, Cuban and Puerto Rican styles.
Originally formed in 1989 by Nuyorican lead vocalist Luis Lugo, Saraguey enjoyed tremendous popularity until its break-up in 1994.
The new generation Saraguey formed in the summer of 2000 and brings with it fresh ideas and a strong repertoire incorporating classic and original songs.
Another instalment of the event is nightclub El Club Latino which will open its doors at Honeysuckle Workshops and keep revellers dancing into the wee hours.
DJs will keep the tunes spinning and there will be blistering floor shows and cool drinks at the bar.
Latino Nights kicks off at 6pm and entry is free. El Club Latino opens its doors at 8pm and entry costs $5.
