FOR those who thought they would have to wait until the new year for a John Butler Trio tour, think again.
Butler and his band will return to Australia for a long-awaited national tour, which will take place in major cities and regional areas, appearing at Newcastle Civic Theatre on Tuesday, December 20.
They set the stage alive in January this year with a performance in front of a 55,000 capacity crowd at the Waveaid concert in Sydney to aid the victims of the tsunami. Soon after, the band toured took on world markets, making a mark in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany and Japan.They also took time out to return to Australia to be a part of the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival before turning around and boarding a plane to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman in the US the next day.Along the way the band caught festival fever with sets at Glastonbury, Fuji Rock Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Currently touring in the US, the band has sold out their own show in San Francisco and recently completed four nights opening for the Dave Matthews Band at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.
Their award-winning Sunrise Over Sea album has been embraced internationally. with it now released in 20 territories. Joining the John Butler Trio on the Australian tour will be Richard Walley and roots rockers, Carus and the True Believers. Tickets go on sale next Monday through Ticketek .
