HOMEGROWN acts have dominated the second and final announcement of the Big Day Out line-up.
Tex Perkins's classic pub-rock group Beasts of Bourbon has been added to the bill as have Shihad, Cog, Sarah Blasko and Wolfmother. Newcomers Drag, Bit By Bats and Airbourne will make their first appearances at the festival.
There is no shortage of dance and hip-hop acts this year with Kid Kenobi, Hilltop Hoods, Sonicanimation, DJ Ajax, DJ Jason Midro, Fast Crew and The Presets all set to appear.
But that's not all.
US metal outfit Mudvayne will be one of the few heavy acts on the bill.
Other US acts include emerging rock'n'roll trio The Greenhornes and rapper Common. UK acts made up a large sector of the second announcement with The Go! Team, The Subways, M.I.A. and Mylo set to grace Big Day Out stages.
Boston rapper Edan will perform as will New York-based MC Jean Grae, DJ James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame, and Japan's Afra and The Incredible Beatbox Band. Acts already announced include The White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand and The Mars Volta. Big Day Out kicks off in Auckland before working its way around Australia, appearing at Sydney Showgrounds on Thursday, January 26.
Tickets to the event have sold out but in an effort to ward off scalpers 500 will be available every Thursday through the Big Day Out website.
There is a limit of two tickets per customer.
The final round will be available on Thursday, January 5.
