MIKE Pickering reckons punters can expect to take a ``trip down memory lane'' when he performs.
With a solid repertoire of classic tracks from the '60s and '70s, Pickering is a popular soloist on the live circuit.
His performances are packed with tunes by greats such as The Beatles, America, The Bee Gees, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Van Morrison. Pickering is also an accomplished songwriter and often includes original blues-style tunes in his set.
After several years living out of the area, Pickering returned to Newcastle in 2001 when he began a regular gig at Pippis at the Point. He formed duo Blues and Boomer in 2003 with blues guitarist Eric Collier who won the blues category of the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards in 2004. Blues and Boomer has become increasingly popular on the local scene after appearances at Musofest and a slot supporting The Brewster Brothers. Pickering will perform solo at Edgeworth Bowling Club on Friday night. Entry is free.
