SUPERSTARS of the Cuban music world will return to Newcastle in July as part of the hugely successful show The Bar at Buena Vista .
Featuring original members of the Buena Vista Social Club, Afro-Cuban All Stars and the Vieja Trova Santiagera, The Bar at Buena Vista promises a song and dance spectacular.
The Bar at Buena Vista pays homage to the Buena Vista neighbourhood and the stars of the Buena Vista Social Club via the music of legends such as the late Compay Segundo and Ruben Gonzalez. It is dedicated to reviving the original spirit of the music of Cuba and features a cast of Cuba's most notable musical greats, drawn from renowned groups including the Grammy- winning Buena Vista Social Club.
The show will return for an encore performance when it lights up the stage at Civic Theatre Newcastle on Thursday, July 7.
Co-founder of the Buena Vista and Grammy-nominated percussionist Carlos Gonzales will be accompanied by fellow Grammy nominee Luis Frank on vocals and diva Barbara Ferrer Sanchez .
While many of the artists are now aged in their 60s, 70s and even 80s, age has proven no barrier as they continue to perform around the globe.
