QUIRKY Sydney-based singer/ songwriter Darren Hanlon returns to Newcastle this weekend as part of a huge national tour which began in Ballarat last week.
He is on the road for what will be one of the most extensive national tours of his career to launch his new single I Wish That I Was Beautiful For You. Hanlon will be supported by special guest Swedish singer- songwriter Jens Lekman when he performs at the Gallipoli Legion Club on Friday night.
As well as revisiting some of the same territory, Hanlon will take on new audiences in areas as far and wide as Wauchope, Townsville, Cairns and Darwin. He has been touring relentlessly since last September when he released his fourth album Little Chills. Recorded in the US, the album spawned the radio favourites A to Z and The Unmade Bed .
It will be the last chance fans have to hear Hanlon and his band perform songs from Little Chills before they head back into the studio to work on the next release.
Bree Van Reyk will be there for the ride on drums and vocals while instrumentalist Nick Luca has returned all the way from Tucson, Arizona, to play with Hanlon again.
Tickets are $15 at the door .
