IT is that time of year again when local musicians are asked to start preparing for the annual 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards. Original artists from the Hunter and Central Coast are encouraged to get their entries in for their chance to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Empress, On and Solver. Now in its fourth year, the 1233 ABC Newcastle Music Awards have proved to be an important vehicle for the region's original musicians.
This year's major winner will record at the ABC studios in Sydney and also receive a professional photo shoot and biography to complement their new recording.
Entrants can expect a broader range of categories this year as well as new online features like a streamlined entry kit and an enhanced website offering more information.
Access to airplay across the ABC radio networks, as well as a stellar cast of locally and nationally recognised industry experts and professional artists to head the judging panels are also features of this year's awards. Entry kits will be available during April at the 1233 studio at Newcastle West, Upper Hunter studio at Muswellbrook, ABC Shops at Charlestown Square and Erina Fair and online at abc.net.au/newcastle/ musicawards Entries will be accepted by post or in person at the 1233 ABC Newcastle studio from Monday, May 2, to Friday, June 10.
