ACCORDING to loopy Machine Gun Fellatio frontman Pinky Beecroft, every day should be a celebration.
And there will be plenty of reason to celebrate when Beecroft and his band, which features a handful of former Novocastrians, return to play in Newcastle tomorrow night.
He hinted there might even be something special planned for the homecoming show.
``Newcastle is the birthplace of Machine Gun Fellatio, so you'll get a special birthday show,'' Beecroft said.
``It's where we were born and I'll probably be emotional.
``I think I might make a speech.
We might have a cake and I might even get someone from the audience to cut the cake.'' One member of the band who won't be there for the party is long- time singer and keyboard player Widow Jones, who recently left the group to pursue her own interests and take some time out at home.
She's been replaced by former Primary singer Connie Mitchell .
While it's not known whether Mitchell will become a permanent member of the group, Beecroft said he planned to do his best to make sure she stuck around.
``It's all exciting because she's an amazing singer,'' Beecroft said.
``We were looking for someone to fill the Widow Jones's very large shoes and Connie came along.
``Hopefully we'll be able to keep her drunk enough for the next three months that she won't be able to find the door and leave the tour.
``That's our game plan.'' Machine Gun Fellatio is on the road and still riding high on the release of the latest album On Ice.
