LEGENDARY shock rocker Alice Cooper will tour Australia in June and play his first ever shows in intimate theatre settings.
Acclaimed as one of the most influential and popular rock artists ever and with sales in excess of 50 million albums, Cooper has earned icon cult status with fans around the globe.
In the '70s, Cooper created his own rock genre with a string of glam-rock hits and the occasional rock ballad with tunes like Schools Out, Department of Youth, Elected, No More Mister Nice Guy and Hey Stupid. The 57-year-old shows no signs of slowing down and will kick off his Australian tour at Civic Theatre Newcastle on June 21.
Cooper last toured Australia in 2001 and returns on the back of his latest album The Eyes of Alice. With his band, comprising long-time guitarist Ryan Roxie (Slash's Snakepit), Damon Johnson (Brother Cane), bassist Chuck Garric (Dio and LA Guns) and drummer Tommy Clufetos (Ted Nugent), Cooper clocked up more than 80 shows last year.
Off stage, Cooper is also keeping busy with a variety of projects.
Last year he took to the airwaves with the Welcome to the Night Man radio show, which broadcasts on 30 stations in the US, and he also opened a second Cooperstown memorabilia bar and grill in Cleveland.
