AFTER taking the Australian country music scene by storm, Adam Harvey has looked to the bigger picture this year.
He made his inaugural journey to China as a Tamworth country music ambassador, playing to crowds of 50,000 in Beijing where he earned a whole legion of new fans.
This month he again heads overseas to embark on a Canadian tour where he will perform at the Calgary Stampede and Merrit Mountain. But it is not the last Australian fans will see of Harvey.
He will perform two shows in the Hunter in late July, followed by a run of dates covering Queensland, NSW and the ACT.
It has been a memorable year for Harvey.
In January he was named Male Vocalist Of the Year at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. It marked Harvey's sixth Golden Guitar award and third Male Vocalist of the Year win.
His triumph coincided with the release of his latest album, Can't Settle For Less, which has spawned the latest single, Missing Heroes. It is the album's third single and a song Harvey holds close to his heart.
Harvey was inspired to pen the tune about his grandfather, who went missing during World War II.
One night Harvey received a phone call from his mother who said she had been watching a television documentary about war and there he was, right in front of her on screen.
``It was pretty unreal,'' Harvey said.
``After all the years of looking for him and trying to find out what had happened. I guess in a way, he found us.'' Catch Harvey live at Hexham Bowling Club on Thursday, July 28, and Toronto District Workers Club on Friday, July 29.
Tickets are available at the venues.
