Channel [v] Looks For Fresh Meat

What: Channel [V] - Fresh Meat
Where: Newcastle City Hall
When: Saturday July 9, 2005

CHANNEL [V] is set to embark on a mission to uncover a new television presenter.

Auditions commence in Sydney on Friday and will take place in Newcastle at City Hall this Sunday.

An eight-week series dubbed Fresh Meat will follow the audition process in the same style that unearthed presenters James Mathison and Yumi Stynes five years ago.

Fresh Meat offers the opportunity for a young male or female to showcase their personality and passion for both music and television and prove they have what it takes to work as a presenter on Channel [V].

Stynes, who now hosts Channel [V]'s whatUwant request show, said she had a lot of fun presenting on live television but that it did involve work and commitment.

``If you like talking to your viewers, meeting interesting people, shooting stuff yourself on mini-DV, writing scripts, going to screenings, festivals, listening to records, this is the gig for you,'' Stynes said.

``My advice for anyone auditioning for Fresh Meat is to be yourself, wear something cool, expressive and individual, if that's your thing.

``Try to be in a good mood, don't mumble and don't be arrogant, rude or obnoxious, these are real people you're auditioning for.'' Interested applicants need to download an application form and be prepared to perform a number of on-camera exercises.
