ENTERTAINER: Daniel Arvidson will be at today's Australia Day concert at Speers Point Park and Cardiff Panthers on Friday.
DANIEL ARVIDSON admits he has always loved hogging the limelight but a passion for music caused him to make a career from performing.
Whatever the reason, Arvidson's motivation has made him one of Newcastle's most versatile and talented artists, able to draw from an extensive catalogue of new and old favourites.
``I have been into music since day one,'' he said.
``My mum used to play records for six hours a day when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
``Looking back, I can now see the bigger picture of what I was, unbeknownst to me, preparing myself for.
``Here I was, subconsciously educating myself of the nuts and bolts of other people's creations and getting inspired to create music that would move the rest of the world, like I myself was being moved.'' Arvidson's formal professional achievements include taking out the soloist and theatre categories at the inaugural 1233 ABC Newcastle Awards and an Australian Bridal Industry Award for wedding entertainer of NSW, all in 2002.
He was a top-10 finalist in the Australian Songwriting Awards for 2004 and is one of the Hunter region's best- selling artists in terms of local sales.
Arvidson has performed overseas as well, playing to audiences in Italy, New York and the Caribbean.
He thrives on creating music and sharing his passion for it with the world.
