One Iota Show Not Enough For This City

Who: Iota
Where: Gateway Hotel
When: Saturday August 27, 2005

SYDNEY singer-songwriter iOTA will return to Newcastle for his second performance this year.

His move to form a new four-piece band called The Lizard Men has paid off with a national tour.

On the way through NSW the enigmatic performer will stop into Newcastle to play at the Gateway Hotel (G-Bar) on Saturday.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of iOTA's new album since they learned of it more than a month ago.

He has teamed with producer Tim Powles (The Church's drummer) to record his latest album, which it would be fair to say will be a departure from his early acoustic- psychedelic style.

It will be his first release since La Caravana in 2003. iOTA says 16 tracks have been recorded with himself on bass, Powles on drums, and piano and strings also included.

The album has still not been released but it should only be around the corner, he said.

iOTA first burst onto the Australian alternative music scene in 1999 and quickly became a live performer of legendary status, netting himself a strong grassroots following.

Three albums, two ARIA Award nominations and national airplay for seven singles brought iOTA to the attention of the public
