Getting Their Rhythms Together

Who: Kadence
Where: Hotel Metro
When: Friday April 8, 2005

COMBINING the talent of a young diva and an experienced musician has proved a winning formula for duo Kadence. Comprising rising vocalist Kristy Brady and musician Peter Gilchrist, Kadence is quickly making a name for itself on the region's live circuit.

Brady first began singing in 1996.

She honed her talent performing as a soloist in Starstruck and has gone on to win many talent quests around Newcastle including the Barter Business Exchange competition in which she placed first in NSW and fifth in Australia.

Brady was also nominated to perform at the Surfest Ball in 2000 where she shared the stage with entertainers such as Daryl Braithwaite. Teaming with Gilchrist has given Brady an added boost.

Gilchrist has more than 15 years experience in the music industry as a guitarist for acts such as Eclipse, Twice Delight, Succotash and Hey Baby. Before arriving in Newcastle, Gilchrist fronted bands elsewhere including DeJaVu , which took out the NSW Rock Quest in Tamworth.

His work in Kadence allows him to cover some of his favourite pop, rock and retro songs including Coldplay, Jewel, John Farnham, Joe Cocker, REM, Tina Arena and Tracy Chapman. A talented songwriter, Gilchrist has begun writing original material with Brady and plans to record a demo in the near future.

Kadence will perform at Hotel Metro on Friday.

Kadence will also play Entrance Leagues Club on Saturday, April 16.
