BRIAN WILSON, the creative genius of the BEACH BOYS, will return to Australia in December to perform tracks from his famous album that almost never was, Smile. Released earlier this month, Smile is the recreation of an album Wilson intended to release before THE BEATLES' groundbreaking Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
It was a new direction for the Beach Boys, and a mixed response from the band members saw the album shelved in 1967 on the eve of its release.
Now, 37 years later, fans finally have the chance to get their hands on a copy.
Smile includes the original version of Heroes and Villains and the classic tune Good Vibrations. Wilson's six-date Australian tour brings him to CIVIC THEATRE NEWCASTLE on Thursday, December 2.
As one of rock's most admired and respected composers, Wilson's tour of Australia in 2002 was described as ``a religious experience''.
In Newcastle, Wilson will perform a selection of his Beach Boys hits and the Smile album in its entirety.
His 19-piece band includes a nine-piece string section.
