AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL AUSTRALIA will host its first ever fund-raising rock concert in Newcastle on Friday night.
Top-selling Australian vocalist VANESSA AMOROSI, best known for her hits The Power, Shine and Absolutely Everybody , will headline the special event at the CIVIC THEATRE NEWCASTLE. She will share the stage with award-winning Newcastle act DYMYR, Melbourne pop/rock artist BROCK DOWNEY and emerging Newcastle act THE HEALING ART. The concert will also feature guests speakers from Amnesty International Australia.
Amnesty International spokesman RENDALL WAGNER said the aim of the concert was to raise awareness about Amnesty and its campaigns relating to Violence Against Women, refugees and the Asia Pacific.
Healing Art frontman CHAD ROGERS said the band was honoured to be performing as part of the benefit concert.
Of all the work undertaken by Amnesty, Rogers said he felt particularly passionate about the government's Pacific Solution policy.
The event will be hosted by special guest MC RHYS MULDOON who has worked in theatre and radio and on television programs such as The Glass House and films such as Danny Deckchair. Tickets for this special fund-raising event are on sale now from the Civic Theatre and TICKETEK on 4929 th1977 for $20 plus a booking fee.
All money raised from the concert on Friday night will go towards Amnesty International Australia.
