Ty's Gold With Dty

Who: Ty Hamilton
Where: Wangi District Workers Club
When: Saturday November 27, 2004

PERFORMING on stage has been in TY HAMILTON'S blood from a young age.

Hamilton began performing at age 13 in Newcastle's YOUNG PEOPLES THEATRE COMPANY. During his four years there he was involved with some 15 pantomime and children's shows which gave him a good understanding of what a life on the stage was all about.

With theatre in his blood, Hamilton landed a major role in HUNTER OPERA'S production of Les Miserables in 1994.

He then performed in a production of the musical Grease, receiving a CONDA nomination for his portrayal of Doody.

Hamilton then moved on to the NEWCASTLE THEATRE COMPANY'S production of Willy Russell's Blood Brothers .

He began to collaborate with two fellow Novocastrians and formed the successful three-part harmony trio DTY. Over the course of three years the group played to large audiences in Newcastle and Sydney.

DTY recorded demos with the hope of breaking into the Australia pop market.

They caught the attention of MOLLY MELDRUM with The Sweetest Touch which went to number one on the MP3.com music charts.

After almost three years Hamilton felt it was time for a change of direction and began the production of his own solo shows.

Catch Hamilton performing solo at WANGI DISTRICT WORKERS CLUB on Saturday night.
