WE know him best as the former star of The Brady Bunch.
But BARRY WILLIAMS's career has spanned much more than a stint on television.
Williams has also forged a successful career in film and on stage, starring in more than 75 productions including Victor Victoria, The Music Man, Man of La Mancha, Guys and Dolls, City of Angels and The Sound of Music. He recently ventured into a new field with the creation of a stage show which takes a nostalgic look at his eclectic career.
``The diversity is what I enjoy the most,'' Williams said.
lw-6 ``It's nice to go from television to a movie to a different play to something like this, which is something I have always wanted to do. ``I co-wrote the show and selected all the songs and hired the team behind it, so it's really my baby.'' The show has been in the works for a year.
Williams oversaw every aspect of the production.
He previewed the show in Las Vegas and decided that Australian audiences would be the first to see it in its completed form.
``What I'm doing with the show, it's a Las Vegas-style of show,'' he said.
``It has costume changes, choreography, production values, it's multi media.
``I use videos throughout the show, both current and Brady Bunch.
``I have one song that is set to Those Were The Days of Our Lives which shows the Bradys of the 70s off stage behaving as the people they are, not the characters.
``The song is rather poignant, reminiscent and nostalgic, not only for the Bradys but also I think it's reflective for audience members who can relate to that stage of their own lives.'' Williams said the show also features segments which call on musical theatre experience.
Catch Williams at WEST LEAGUES CLUB on March 17.
Tickets are on sale from the club, on 4935 1200.
